Since long ago, Jeju Island has been the land of gods and the gateway connecting the two worlds. “Lust demons” feed off the evil greed of humans. “Geum Baek-ju,” the mother of Jeju Island’s gods, sacrificed 46 children a long time ago to seal lust demons underground. They have become mysterious stone statues that are known as Dol Hareubang today. However, over a long period of time, the seal of the Barrier gradually declined and ended up being protected by the holy ones, who were born with the fates that the gods could not fulfill. Meanwhile, there was an esoteric Buddhism called Taejang Buddhism that carried on the mission of helping the holy ones protect the Barrier and stop the lust demons. Taejang Buddhism decided to infuse the energy of lust demons to grow the forbidden “demon slayers,” and that’s how “Van” was born. Hundreds of thousands of years have passed, and once again, lust demons broke out on Jeju Island as a result of someone’s conspiracy. "Won Mi-ho" is the only heiress to the Daehan Group. She falls for her aunt’s plot and becomes the center of a controversy after beating up a person in the middle of the city. Mi-ho is sent to Jeju Island until things quiet down, but as soon as she arrives, she is chased by horrifying monsters called lust demons, whose identities are unknown. At that moment, a mysterious man in black appears. He is Van. Upon defeating the lust demons, he tells Mi-ho about her fate. Mi-ho asks Van to move in and become her security guard. It turns out that the two of them shared a tie in past lives from a long time ago. Mi-ho was the reincarnation of Wonjeong, who was destined to fulfil Taejang Buddhism’s mission of establishing the Barrier. Van had been waiting thousands of years for Wonjeong, who died promising him that she would return for sure. Wonjeong finally reincarnates in the body of Mi-ho, but Mi-ho does not have any memory of it. Meanwhile, “Johan,” an exorcist from the Vatican, arrives on Jeju Island under the Vatican’s order. He hides his identity and lives with Mi-ho in her villa. Three of them join forces to solve problems caused by mysterious monsters, such as lust demons, Benjulle, and Gusunsae. The identity of the dark one who has awoken all these monsters and polluted the world starts revealing itself. It was “Gungtan,” who was raised to become a demon slayer, along with Van, like brothers. The extraordinary ones who have chosen to defy their unfortunate fate in order to protect those who are precious to them or to save the world. Will they be able to protect Jeju Island against evil?
