Brother John ONLINE ANSCHAUEN: STREAMEN, LEIHEN ODER KAUFEN

When John Kane (Sidney Poitier) returns home to visit his dying sister, his sudden arrival provokes considerable interest. Louisa MacGill (Beverly Todd), a lovely black schoolteacher who has recently returned home as well, finds herself attracted to the enigmatic man she remembers as a childhood friend. Having delivered him during a thunderstorm 35 years ago, Doc Thomas (Will Geer) recalls seeing Kane unexpectedly reappear every time a member of his family died - even when no one summoned him. Doc's son, Lloyd (Bradford Dillman), an ambitious district attorney, suspects that he's an outside agitator sent to help the black workers organize a strike against the town's major industrial plant. So, pressed by Lloyd, the sheriff assigns George, a racist deputy, to follow him. Seeing George humiliate his brother-in-law in front of his children, Kane beats the deputy and is thrown in jail. In the wake of an assassination and amid the threat of more violence breaking out, Doc Thomas frees Kane from jail and confronts him with his suspicion that he is the embodiment of the Angel of Death -- harbinger of the impending apocalypse. Yet, as the threat of violence in the small town grows, Kane leaves just as suddenly as he appeared.
